چکیده

Liquid chromatography (LC) may be simply described as an analytical technique used to separate the individual components of a solution based on their relative afRnities for a liquid mobile phase and a stationary phase. There are numerous modes of LC (i.e. reversed-phase, normal-phase, ion exchange) that are commonly classiRed according to the mechanism by which separation occurs. One such mechanism involves the formation of inclusion complexes. An inclusion complex can be deRned as an entity, consisting of two or more molecules, in which one molecule, the ‘host’, noncovalently encapsulates or includes a ‘guest’ molecule. In chromatography, differences in the strength of binding between guest molecules or analytes and a speciRc host allow for separation. The purpose of this article is to review recent applications of inclusion complexation in liquid chromatography. Although a variety of small molecule interactions with macromolecules or polymers have been ascribed to inclusion complexation, the focus of this article is on well-deRned host molecules.

The hydroxypropyl–β-cyclodextrin complexation of toltrazuril for enhancing bioavailability

Introduction Toltrazuril (Tol) is used to prevent and combat coccidiosis. However, its low aqueous solubility and poor oral bioavailability limit clinical application. Methods To overcome the shortcomings, toltrazuril-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin inclusion complex (Tol-HP-β-CD) was prepared and characterized. The comparative plasma disposition kinetics of Tol was analyzed after a single orall...

LC-MSn methods for saccharide characterization of monoglycosyl flavonoids using postcolumn manganese complexation.

A simple tandem mass spectrometry method for differentiating isomeric monoglycosyl flavonols, flavones, and flavanones using manganese complexation is reported. Dissociation of the [Mn(II) (L) (L - H)]+ and [Mn(II) (L)2 (L - H)]+ species provides unique fragment ions that allow the identification of the saccharide moiety as glucose, galactose, arabinose, or xylose. The glycosylation site of the...

Silver complexation and tandem mass spectrometry for differentiation of isomeric flavonoid diglycosides.

For detection and differentiation of isomeric flavonoids, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry is used to generate silver complexes of the type (Ag + flavonoid)+. Collisionally activated dissociation (CAD) of the resulting 1:1 silver/flavonoid complexes allows isomer differentiation of flavonoids. Eighteen flavonoid diglycosides constituting seven isomeric series are distinguishable from e...
